Storeroom Clerk Food Services

Details: Department: General Food ServiceSchedule: Full timeShift: DaysHours: 80 hours bi-weekly; M - F and weekends 5:30am - 2:00pmJob Description: High School Diploma/GED Minimum of 1 year of experience SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for the receiving of food and supplies, verifying deliveries to assure compliance with purchase orders and product specifications. The individual must transport and store goods in the appropriate areas. Issues food and supplies according to requisitions. Delivers requisitions to the appropriate department in the kitchen. Must ensure proper storage and control of food and supplies. Duties are routine and repetitive. Accuracy in conducting inventories; proper issuance of food and supplies; and keeping the buyer aware of amounts on hand is critical. May be required to work rotating shifts. Will be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. The work will require the employee to use/wear appropriate uniforms, safety, and sanitation equipment. A high standard of personal cleanliness is required. Work requires occasional communication outside of the work group. Communication with external contacts is for providing or receiving factual information. Courtesy and tact are required in dealing with customers. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Ascension Health Core Values, St. Agnes policies/ procedures and applicable civil laws. Is accountable for efficient use of resources and support of the St. Agnes mission.   Essential functions: – Maintain par levels and rotate supplements, tube feedings, and special patient feeding items. Ensures special items for patient feeding are available on an as needed basis. Identifies tube feedings and supplements that are close to expiring. Coordinates with the Buyer to ensure product received has a long enough shelf life. – Issues and delivers items to food service departments based on requisitions submitted. Transports, unpacks and stores food and supplies in appropriate areas. Rotates stock in accordance with First In First Out (FIFO) method, to ensure product freshness. – Accepts, verifies, inspects, and signs for received goods. Checks and records refrigerator temperatures daily. Takes appropriate action when units do not meet standards. – Dates products when received. – Takes temperatures on products received and records on receiving paperwork. Identifies and rejects products not meeting standards for temperature, quality or quantity. Identifies and reports foods that are at risk of spoiling. – Follows verbal directions on special orders to reduce dead stock. Stocks point of service items in cafeteria at least daily. – All food and supply requisitions will be filled in a timely manner. Demonstrates proper and courteous telephone manners, routing inquiries to appropriate persons and addressing complaints. – Coordinates needs of the variety of departments within the food service area. Participates in process improvement teams to improve satisfaction while maintaining or decreasing costs. – Complete hospital annual training requirements to include Fire safety, Infection control, Corporate responsibility and others as designated by hospital policy. Attend department in-services and meetings. – Utilizes established safety and sanitation practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Utilizes and practices universal precautions where required. – Consistently uses tools and operates equipment in a safe manner, applying established safety and sanitation rules and regulations to minimize minor violations and to avoid major violations due to employee error or negligence. – Promptly informs the supervisor of accidents and/or damage to supplies or equipment or of any observed unsafe practices and/or procedures in a timely manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.   Required Education: Ability to Read, Write and Speak English, Ability to follow oral instruction.
