Details: Job Summary and MissionThis job contributes to Starbucks success by providing timely and effective advanced level legal support to attorneys. This job is part of a team of support staff for the licensing and franchising group, with specific emphasis on contract drafting, preparation and negotiation for the Starbucks licensed stores business, supporting deal generation, maintenance and legal compliance and general legal support for a fast-moving business organization. Summary of Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:-Directs due diligence on potential licensees, including ensuring compliance with Starbucks legal, financial and business requirements.- Drafts licensing agreements, contract amendments and other documents related thereto.- Negotiates directly and/or assists clients in negotiating contracts mentioned above and supports the active management of deals through completion.- Supports regulatory compliance needs of Starbucks licensed stores business.- Manages moderately complex to complex projects or segments and phases of complex projects. Ensures that the project achieves the expected results within time and on budget. May direct the work of others. -Manages routine and identifies and initiates non-routine legal tasks, both independently and as requested by attorneys. Informs attorneys of significant issues in a timely manner. Conducts factual investigation and recommends course of action to be taken. Reviews materials and provides comments to attorneys in the form of reports and summaries. Performs a variety of legal assignments, including drafting, reviewing and transmitting legal correspondence and documents.- Provides regular feedback and consultation to partners and appropriate departments regarding the status of legal projects. - Provides support and direction to internal business units according to assigned geographical region or area of expertise. Participates in cross-functional teams within the company. Meets independently with Starbucks business leaders as representative of the Law and Corporate Affairs department. Takes initiative to identify trends, issues, potential risks and liabilities.- Develops and oversees maintenance of document and data management systems within the Law and Corporate Affairs department. Maintains organized files, manages and optimizes group processes and generates reports as applicable.• Fields and responds to questions and requests for information from clients regarding existing deal terms, on-going deal status, contractual terms under consideration or negotiation, and assists with driving deals to completion.- Maintains regular and consistent attendance, and punctuality. Effectively balances multiple priorities and meets attorney and client service level expectations.- Participates in general group and departmental matters, including group and departmental meetings, projects and committees.
