Unit Secretary / Nursing Assistant

Details: High school diploma or equivalent is required Certification Preferred Position Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, performs a variety of direct and indirect activities in caring for the personal and comfort needs of patients including toileting, bathing, grooming, feeding and repositioning.  Additional duties include transporting patients, measuring and recording vital signs, one to one patient observation, collecting specimens for laboratory testing and general unit cleanliness. Coordination of unit activities including greeting and directing patients, visitors and physicians, maintaining the medical records, answering the telephone and all general unit questions, managing pages and transcription of physician orders/order entry in MAR.  Additional duties include collaborating with Nurse Leadership, the Admitting Department and all members of the health care team to facilitate patient flow in periods of high census, one to one patient observation, processing mail, and ordering unit supplies. Qualifications: Completion of Nursing Assistant training and 6 months of experience required, CNA certification preferred, or Nursing Student enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Must have excellent customer service, strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Must be flexible to cross-train and float to multiple nursing units. Must have excellent customer service and ability to multi-task. Experience with Microsoft Office and MEDITECH preferred.
